The History

1988 - 1990, Nandor Fa designed and built this 60 foot racing boat in Hungary, launched July 1990, he named her Alba Regia (the historical name of his hometown)

1990-91 Nandor Fa raced her in the B.O.C. Challenge (later called 'Around Alone') – rank 11 (he lost 4 weeks of the race due to broken rudders), but was awarded the Special Award “Spirit of B.O.C. Challenge”.

1992-93 Nandor Fa competed in the Vendée Globe in her and came 5th, becoming the first non-French participant to finish! The boat was named after her sponsor K&H Bank Matav

1995 : Entered the Transat Jacques-Vabre, helmed by Éric Dumont and Gilles Campan, but was abandoned due to dismasting.

1998-1999 Russian adventurer Fedor Konyukhov raced the boat in Around Alone under the name Mod Univ Humanities. Although he completed the circumnavigation he was forced to retire from the race after missing a course waypoint and the deadline for Leg 3. He became the first yachtsman in Russian history, to complete a solo non-stop circumnavigation on a yacht.

2000-2001 Fedor Konyukhov entered the Vendée Globe to become the first Russian in history to participate in the event. Unfortunately he abandoned the boat and the race in Sydney due to technical problems (auto pilot not working, ripped mainsail, damaged rigging and physical injuries).

2002 - The boat was bought by Michael Cranitch, then director of the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA), who named her Broomstick. It was lengthened by 6 feet and got a new carbon mast. She came 8th in the Sydney Hobart and competed in many CYCA offshore races over the following years.

2011 - Sold and renamed The Stick. She continued to race in CYCA offshore races.

2014 - Bought by Tony and Sue Millet, brought to New Zealand and renamed NV.

2019 - Came 1st in the Vavau (Tonga) and Musket Cove (Fiji) regatta
